The History of Selah Dubb...
With their high energy sound, Selah Dubb brings forth relevant and uplifting positive vibrations. Representing modern day surf-reggae-rock with mass appeal, The Dubb has matured into a mobile, energetic, and entertaining trio. Bring your dancing boots, for this is no sleepy time reggae! In 2012, expect more high energy vibes as The Dubb continues to experiment with the capacities of integrating technology into the creation of live entertainment.
Swinging beats stronger than ever, Selah Dubb is currently recording their upcoming summer vibes album, Close Out City, slated for 2013 holiday release. The rock steady crew has locked down solid support from friends and fans across the country from Colorado to the Carolinas. On the surface, the mission of the band is to spread unity and positivity. However, if one wants to delve deeper into the lyrics, messages of equality, consciousness, and empowerment are bountiful.
With a rich history spanning 20 years, Selah Dubb has rocked audiences throughout the country and overcome innumerable challenges along the way. By consistently hashing out new songs and continuously improving their DIY formula, The Dubb has captured the attention of both new and dedicated fans alike. In the face of an ailing economy where most record companies are shelving acts and struggling to stay afloat, Selah has tightened up their underground approach to keep the music alive and in full motion.
Mark Evangelist (lead vocals, guitarist, songwriter, and producer) is the leading light of the band. His passion for reggae music and his original, high energy songwriting has kept Selah thriving since its inception. By touring non-stop throughout the years and recording 12 albums, the group has developed a great reputation in the southeast and beyond.
“Baby Beats” (support vocals and keys) was a surprising addition to the group. She attended a Selah show while in Boone and became instantly hooked. When a position in the band became available shortly thereafter, she jumped on the opportunity. Her role in the band is not only as keyboard melody maker but also live engineer, controlling the digital aspects of the music like that of a DJ.
Last summer, Crystal Coastal rootsman Reuben Rosado joined the band to play drums. His solid foundation and attention to detail bring a dance quality that keeps the rhythm shaking and body moving.
Selah has been fortunate to share the stage opening for many of their favorite artists: The Wailers, Widespread Panic, Jimmy Cliff, Slightly Stoopid, P-Funk, Steel Pulse, Train, Black Uhuru, Burning Spear, Eek-a-Mouse, Lakeside, Culture, Yellow Man, Pato Banton, & many more. On occasion, they will surprise you with an accastional cover to honor the artists before them who have helped the reggae movement thrive as it does today.
